Formaldehyde harmful effects and root canals

Formaldehyde is really not used in root canals. In certain situations, they are used as a temporary disinfectant during partial root canal treatments. In those instances, they are only placed in the middle of the crown of the tooth, away from vital bone tissues. Also, the amount used is such that only vapors are necessary. We dab some in some cotton and dry that cotton to make sure it’s not soaked. But like I said, we don’t use it during an actual root canal treatment. The materials used in root canals are extremely inert.

Unfortunately, formaldehyde IS used in root canals and is permanently sealed within the canals of the tooth. I found out this story the very hard way. Didn’t even know what a root canal was before the fateful day that changed my life and not for the better.

Formaldehyde used in ANY type of dental procedure CAN BE extremely dangerous to the patient. Unfortunately there are some dentists that use it (Sargenti Paste, N2, etc.)to seal root canals. Even formescresol in pediatric dentistry has been known to harm CHILDREN http://www.dhp.state.va.us/Dentistry/minutes/SCCA10132006.doc There are many SAFER products out there, there is no reason besides profit and laziness to use Sargenti Paste . As usual the patients’ safety and health are sacrificed! Please visit www.worstrootcanalever.com to learn more.

With much safer alternatives available, there is no reason for any dental clinician to be using any products with formaldehyde in a patient’s mouth. This would include pediatric use.

The dental community needs to start placing patient care and what is best for the patient as their priority. Furthermore, dentists that have knowledge of wrong-doing by other dental clinicians must start speaking up and protecting the patient! Dental boards and dental associations need to start protecting the patient not themselves. We are talking about peoples health and lives!
